Folklore Registration and Practice Begins Thursday, Aug. 20

By | Folklore Groups, General Information/News | No Comments

Folklore registration and the first practice of the 2015-2016 season will take place Thursday, August 20 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the South Wing of St. Sava Church.

If your child has been thinking about joining/returning to Folklore, this is a perfect time. We will have a lot of new faces this season and will be working together to form new groups. We have a lot of fun activities planned for this season and the more members we have, the better!

  • 6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. – Registration
  • 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Pee Wee Practice
  • 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. – Middle Group Practice

At this point, it is undetermined if we will have a Senior Group. We will not know until registration and we see who commits. We are asking our older kids to please come out and join!

Due to work schedules and sports practice of some of our dancers, we decided to modify the practice schedule a bit. Please let me know if this does now work for you and we will see what we can do.

New blouses have been purchased for the girls and will be distributed by the end of the month.

Please complete the registration form and return with your payment on Thursday, August 20th.

Thank you all for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you all at practice next week!

Board Appointments

The Folklore Groups would also like to welcome Lela Jensen to the Folklore Board and announce that Dawn Sisk will remain on the board as well.

Parent Support and Volunteers

We will be asking for help throughout the season, hoping that some of the parents can take the lead on luncheons and other special fundraising events.  If we all share the responsibility then not one person or group will burn out so quickly.

Biljana Vrbica and Ursula Brboric are volunteers leading the plan/organize/work scheduling for the luncheon after Divine Liturgy taking place Sunday, September 20. If you would like to help at this event, please send email to bvrbica29@gmail.com. Please let us know as soon as possible, preferably by August 20, if you will be able to help with this luncheon.  All proceeds will go to Folklore.

Memorial Service – ПАРАСТОС

By | General Information/News, Religious Observances | No Comments

Dear Parishioners,

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Longin, Sunday, August 9, in our Saint Sava Church we will serve a Memorial service for the innocent victims in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the persecution and suffering of the Serbian people in the Republic of Serbian Krajina and Croatia in the military operation “Storm” on August 4, 1995.

The Memorial service will begin immediately after Holy Liturgy. Although time is short, I hope that the faithful from our parish will come to the Holy Liturgy and to this memorial Service and together and worthily commemorate this important event in our recent past.

Rev Marko Matic
